Managing Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin condition that results in patches of itchy, red and scaly areas of the skin.  Psoriasis can appear anywhere on the body, but is commonly found on the elbows, lower knees, lower back and scalp.

Psoriasis is caused by overactive white blood cells that accumulate in the skin, causing skin cells to overproduce. This over production of skin cells result in itchy, red, scales.

While there is no cure for psoriasis, there are a myriad of ways in which to control the disease.

Clothing

Many psoriasis patients do not consider clothing as part of their treatment regimen.  However, clothing can have a real impact on psoriasis treatment.  Lightweight, breathable and natural fabrics  keep the skin cool and comfortable and help to avoid irritation and itching.
